July 30th, 2014. Second day at Tlaal

We had a lovely breakfast. Baked apples and fruit stuffed French toast. Then we were out the door at 9:00ish. It was sunny and warm. That does not mean a thing on the islands because if you wait half an hour the weather will change.

We stopped at Mayer lake first, just to see what this picnic area was like. Quiet, serene, loons and pretty. One could easily spend the day kayaking around at ease.

Our mext stop was Pure Lake. Not so many lily pads, but the same mineral rich water that seems to be a part of Haida.

On the way up to Agate Beach and Tow hill hike we stopped at a tiny bakery. Fantastic baking. All in the middle of the west coast rain forest.

The moss just drips off the trees.

Then we drove through old and new Massett up to Agate beach where on a clear day you can see Alaska. What a beautiful beach. We collected many rocks that even if they are not Agates were very pretty. Many people were crabbing. They walk out into the water up to their waists and poke around for large crabs. Amazing.

Tony and his cinnamon bun from the bakery .

It rained had wind and sun. Not the warmest but still a great day. On to our hikes.

Naikoon provincial park is huge and natural.  We ended up doing all three walks here. The whole trail was done in boardwalks and one was wheelchair accessible .

The second walk had many steps going uphill. Still doable and worth the view.

Alaska is under the white cloud.

A great day. Hope to have another on tomorrow.
