Nuremberg :Wednesday July  24, 2013

Even though the locks were still on strike today, we had a tour of Nuremburg today via a bus. Driving the German autobahns is interesting. They tailgate and go fast, but in many ways they are similar to our Canadian roads.

The bus trip took an hour. We drove through agricultural lands and industrial . The nuclear reaction plant was interesting . We arrived in Nuremberg at 11:00 am. It is beautiful and serious. The place where the nazi rallies were held for the third reich as well as a wonderful medieval town. The Nuremberg trials and a vibrant new art culture. There are many contrasts here.

The mediaval tower that surrounds the old city. The walls surround the city, the moat is dry and also surrounds the city.

This part of  Aldstadt is ancient .

The wall surrounds the entire old city.

We walked around the wall as much as we could. The Kaiserburg gave great views of the city.

The view from the castle in Nuremberg.

Lunch today. We had sausages, saurekraut, potatoe salad, soup, beer and ice cream for dessert.

Restaurants in Germany have deer antlers on the wall.

On the way home, one last photo in the garden .

This is in the castle. The grounds were spectacular .
