The City of Koblenz, Germany cont. July 20, 2013

We had breakfast on the terrace. Again the weather is sunny and hot. We arrived in Koblenz just after 8:00 am this morning.

Marksburg castle was a short bus ride away. It is the oldest castle in Germany. It is in the city of Braubach. When we arrived, they were filming a movie. The actors wore medieval clothing. The castle was high on a hilltop. It was all about defending the castle.

Inside the castle the walls were made of rock . The doors were high enough for horses. There was a garden, blacksmith shop, dining area, kitchen. Beautiful views of the river.

After we took the bus back to the ship where they had prepared a German lunch. Different sausages, beer, pretzels and different mustards. Not  a green veggie in sight!

In the afternoon we sailed through the middle Rheine. Castles everywhere, as well as vineyards and the rocks of Lorelei. The sun was hot and bright. In the afternoon we had rudesheimer coffee. (Includes brandy and whipping cream)

Tomorrow we will be on the Mains river.
