The day started off very cloudy but warm. Tony at breakfast received 2 more beer glasses. He will have a suitcase full of beer glasses to drag around Europe with him. Marja and I walked to the stores in the morning to pick up his birthday cake that she had ordered the day before from a special bakery. George and Marja have spoiled us so much!
The special advokaat cake for Tony's birthday. It was a wonderful concoction of whipping cream, pudding, advokaat liquor, pastry, almonds and chocolate. We had a piece for coffee in the morning and decided that we would skip lunch.
After lunch we walked in the countryside between the Dutch and German border. We walked past a lake, campgrounds and fields of corn and grain.
The weather was finally turning warmer but it was humid. At the other side of the lake was a little restaurant and pub......they are everywhere !
In the afternoon, Marja and George us borrowed bikes for us front their friends Annie and Jo. So we went for a 15 km bike ride. Annie's bike was an E bike which means it has a little electric motor on the back. They are all over Europe. The older people like them especially. The motor gives the just enough umphh to make it up the hill. It keeps them mobile and moving. The bike was great, when you get to a hill, you turn the motor on and it helps you up the hill. Just to enough to give you a boost. Half way through our ride we stopped for ice cream. Ice crea, is not small here. Tony and I shared a banana split and it was still too much.
Tomorrow is our last day here.
