Betty's cats were very happy to have new people pay attention to them. They came to visit us first thing in the morning. They liked crawling all over our suitcases and jumped on the bed with us.
We slept in the morning and then at around 1:00pm went to the train station and bought train tickets to The Hague on Wednesday and Hoorn on Thursday. Those are the days we go sight seeing. Then Tony and I went walking around Amsterdam all afternoon and became more familiar with the city.
I had left my I pad at home so did not take pictures of our walk. For dinner we went to an Ethiopian restaurant just down the street. You eat the food from large plates with pieces of Ethiopian pancakes. You use no utensils and only your fingers.
The food was chicken, beef, bean mixtures and vegetables. The food was very spicey and some dishes were hot. But the food was very tasty and different.
After dinner Betty and I had the Abbysinian coffee. It came in a cast iron pot that was very hot. The coffee was spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg and other spices. It was very lovely.
Right now the weather is very stormy in Amsterdam. There have been high winds and showers on an off all day. When we took a walk after dinner, the airplanes were flying over the Center of the city because of the storm.
We are hoping that tomorrow is nicer weather for our trip to The Hague.
